Rebecca Futchel

Food Pantry Director

Office: 210-236-6816

Rebecca first discovered NHUMC as a Day School for her 2 young children.  She fell so in love with the program and everyone at the church, that she ended up working at the Day School.  With the arrival of baby three, Rebecca decided that being a stay-at-home mom and room mom at the elementary school was where she needed to be.

Fast forward to 2021…Two of the children are now out of the house and Rebecca has the desire to expand life beyond “Mom” duties, so started volunteering at the Food Pantry!  Soon she was changing things and helping to expand the program to where it is today.  Rebecca started officially as an employee the summer of 2023.

The love of Jesus is very strong for Rebecca.  She has a servant’s heart and has a desire for serving her community.  Rebecca has volunteered with children’s and youth ministries.  She has gone on several youth mission trips and 2 trips to Guatemala.  Being on a mission trip is where Rebecca feels closest to God.

Rebecca also has a passion for construction and doing things for others.  She has remodeled her own house as well as gutting and redoing the house her parents live in.  She is very proud of the fact that she can get a sheet of drywall in the back of her minivan!  When COVID first hit, Rebecca, her mother and daughter sewed 1500 masks for the church and school.

The Northern Hills UMC Food Pantry fills her heart.  Being there allows her to get to know the clients personally and to help them shop with dignity.  Being able to give a client a little relief with food brings a smile and a grateful heart to both the client and Rebecca.

Rebecca was born and raised in south Texas, but it took moving out of state to find her husband Rusty.  They moved back to Texas 20 years ago and have made San Antonio home.
